Our client is currently seeking an Automation Engineer who will support multiple Bio-process areas at their Rochester, NY location. The primary focus of this role is to work closely with operations, maintenance and IT to trouble-shoot issues and develop and implement process control and network improvement strategies across the site on a daily basis.
 
Must Have:
  • BS degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 2-5 years of process control work experience and training in the chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to program and troubleshoot PLC (Allan Bradley, Rockwell and Control Logix) to meet customer needs.
  • Industrial experience with DCS a must.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation & Process Control engineering concepts and design including circuits, control systems, as well as a general knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge on manufacturing automation integration.
  • Food or Pharmaceutical industry experience desired.
  • Ability to apply process improvement concepts such as Six Sigma, and Lean Enterprise to deliver sustained results.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • The Automation Engineer provides automation and process control leadership, configuration, and ongoing support for operations at 24/7 production plant.
  • Develops and implements long range plans for process control improvements.
  • Evaluates risks and classifies events in compliance with PSM standards.
  • Guides and trains area personnel on process control methodology in order to assist process control improvement efforts.
  • Supports process control related activities of site capital projects.
  • Provides assistance to area Engineers to troubleshoot process control problems.
  • Develops, reviews, maintains, and updating related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument and process control technologies.
